Bookclub 2018 will be discussing Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and my friend Marianne states that it is referred to as #TheBook by those in the know in Savannah. Savannah comes to light in the frank prose used by its colorful inhabitants and detailed by the author Berendt. Savannah is as it always has been a city of contradictions, beautiful gardens and 19th century homes infused with honeysuckle and gardenias a veritable Garden of Eden with bigotry, hatred, and greed simmering below the surface.

I have the audio version of this selection and have listened up to Chapter 12 which is Day 1 of the first trial of Jim Williams, the gay antique dealer in #TheBook, is more about his sexual preference and the murder indictment is more about haterism than actual pursuit of justice.
